Akoma Counseling Concepts is a practice that currently has a team of 4 licensed Clinicians. Most of our therapists have completed certificate training in Perinatal mental health counseling. Most of our clinicians have been trained at Historically Black Colleges & Universities to help us provide culturally informed care.
Akoma Counseling Concepts is a mental health counseling and consultation practice that specializes in women’s mental health. We also specialize in perinatal mental health counseling, stress management, and reproductive psychotherapy. We provide counseling services to women via teletherapy in Maryland and the metro Washington, DC area.
We provide consulting services to community, education, or health care professionals to promote mental health awareness , advocacy, and cultural competency in the work place. We provide continuing education and training on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (postpartum depression, miscarriage, fertility issues, perinatal loss, and postpartum anxiety). Clinical supervision services are available. We are in network with Carefirst, Blue Crosss Blue Shield, United Health, Optum, and Amerihealth insurances.
